Chapter 1271 Ukraine-Transcaucasus 1

As Ruprecht's wife, the prince will help Her Royal Highness Princess Marie wear the crown belonging to the King of Austria. As the prince's lover and collaborator, the prince will also help the latter gain a foothold in Ukraine in the future! And their child Henry will also occupy an important position in the future of Ukraine.

Ukraine, Caucasus! The prince set his sights on the map. He picked up the pen in his hand and walked to the map. After thinking for a moment, he drew an almost vertical line in the area west of Kiev. This place will become the territory of the Austrian Empire in the future! The new Austrian Empire needed enough food. And after paying enough price, if you can't get enough benefits, it may be a troublesome thing to integrate the various forces in the country.

(Even historically, the so-called Ukrainian independence is not the Ukraine of later generations. After all, the Ukraine of later generations includes the Lviv region, which was an integral part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire before World War 1...)

The western region of Ukraine is an important food producing area, and it is also a region less affected by Russia. Taking the history of later generations as an example, in Ukraine in 2001, the total number of Russian-speaking people in the western region generally did not exceed 10%! And the main religious belief in western Ukraine is Catholicism. Well, this has a natural affinity with the Kingdom of Bavaria and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Therefore it was desirable to incorporate this part of Ukraine into the Austrian Empire.

Then there is Central Ukraine, um, yes, you read that right, it is Central Ukraine. Do you really think that Ukraine is divided into eastern and western parts according to ethnic groups and beliefs? Come on, that's a rough division method for people in later generations who don't know much about Ukrainian history. In fact, if divided according to the order of conquest, ethnicity, and religious beliefs, Ukraine can be divided into western, central, eastern, and southern regions. (Sorry, there is no such thing as northern Ukraine)

In terms of national origin, Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians actually all originated from the ancient Rus. So Ukrainians are also called Little Russians. The Ksako ethnic group was also composed of serfs and poor people who had fled from areas near Kiev to the Dnieper River region in the east.

During the era of Empress Catherine, Russia destroyed the Cossack emirate and acquired territory in the Dnieper River region, which was called Eastern Ukraine. After the Crimean Khanate was destroyed, the area gained was called Southern Ukraine, which was originally home to the Tatars. This was true even after the end of World War 2. It's just that because the indigenous people here cooperated with the Germans, Stalin moved them all away in 1954, and then replaced the local ethnic groups with Russians...

One thing that needs to be explained is that at this time, the Crimea region does not yet belong to Ukraine... It was Khrushchev who actually divided the Crimean Peninsula into the territory of Ukraine. It is said that Khrushchev decided to do this and there is a story. Khrushchev made his fortune in Ukraine. He first worked as a manager in the Donbas coal mine, then served as the Minister of the Central Organization Department of Ukraine in the 1920s, and in 1937 he became the First Secretary of Ukraine.

So after he came to power, he still had a lot of affection for Ukraine. Then he once revisited his old hometown in Ukraine and came to Crimea in a daze. By this time, Crimea had been replaced by Russians, but the new arrival The life of the Russians is not good. The Ukrainian conquest has no obligation to control Russia, and is the Crimean Peninsula connected to other places... So with one stroke of his pen, Khrushchev directly transferred the Crimea region to the Republic of Ukraine... that is it!

Therefore, from the current point of view, eastern Ukraine is dominated by Cossacks and Ukrainians who are more Russified, and southern Ukraine is dominated by Tatars who believe in Islam. Therefore, from the current point of view, central Ukraine is dominated by Cossacks. The Russification of eastern Ukraine is relatively serious. Western Ukraine is closer to Poland and Austria-Hungary on religious issues. Therefore, in this case, the prince plans to take parts of western Ukraine and central Ukraine, which together are less than half of the future Ukraine. In addition, the German-Austrian fleet may also be stationed in the Sevastopol Fortress in the future.

Then what? Is this the end? Let the remaining half of Ukraine become independent directly? If it were the Kaiser, then he would do this, but the prince believes that this is too rough and too low. If possible, the prince hopes that the newly born Ukrainian country can expand further eastward, preferably to the future generations. Volgograd, well, this place also had a name in World War 2, called Stalingrad! Called Charizin before 1925!

Why has to be this way? Because in the future system, Ukraine will be positioned as an important ally of Germany and Austria. This ally must have a certain strength, and it can only rely on Germany and Austria! In order to achieve this goal, Ukraine, which has lost a considerable part of its territory, naturally cannot complete it. After all, the remaining area is a bit small and lacks depth. At the same time, the hatred with the new Red Soviet Union is not big enough!

Volgograd is indeed a very important place. Just from the geographical location, it is the hub of roads and waterways connecting the Eurasian continent! Going east and north, you can enter the heart of the Soviet Union. To the south is the resource-rich Caucasus region, and to the west is Ukraine! This was originally one of Russia's important granaries.

If Ukraine occupies this area, it can serve as a barrier to the Caucasus region under German and Austrian control. At the same time, it also blocked the passage of Russia's southern front! And if the Soviet Union becomes stronger, it will never give up here! From a purely geographical and food perspective, the Soviet Union must control this place for its own security! Then the question arises, can the new Ukraine stop the Soviets?

Perhaps the Soviet Union in this dimension cannot defeat Germany after its victory in World War I and its expansion... but! It would be no problem to kill a Ukrainian! So now the question arises. If the new Ukraine is sandwiched between the two great powers of Germany and the Soviet Union, what should they do in order to survive? Naturally, the only option was to surrender to Germany. Could it be possible to surrender to the Soviet Union? ! Then independence still has a meaning!

Moreover, after expanding eastward, the ethnic issues within Ukraine will definitely intensify, and the central and southern parts of Ukraine will not be close to Russia. However, the eastern part is more influenced by Russia, and after arriving in Volgograd, there must be many Russians there. Although Ukrainians are still the majority, the ethnic issues within Ukraine will definitely be more serious. At this time, if Ukraine wants to exist, it can only rely on Germany and Austria! Rely on the prince!

Yesterday the author seemed to have set a record... The lowest booking day this year... Well, that’s sad….
