Chapter 109: Unexpected Visitor

"Hello... Hello... Myrtle."

A female ghost crouched and floated over. Her face was the most melancholy that Fanlin had ever seen. Half covered by sparse hair, she wore a pair of thick pearl glasses.

"What's wrong?" Myrtle looked at the four people and a ghost with a confused look.

"Nothing..." Hermione said quickly, "I'm really happy to see you walk out of the bathroom."

"You're lying," Peeves shouted. His harmless appearance just now was all pretended.

"They were talking about you just now..."

"I didn't..." Hermione said with all her might, "In fact, we are happy for you. We are praising you for being so beautiful today."

"Really?" Myrtle stuck to Hermione's face.

"Uh..." Hermione was still not very good at deceiving people. For a moment, Hermione could not answer Myrtle's question.

"I knew it," Myrtle floated back a distance, "You are making fun of me." Silver tears fell from her small, almost completely transparent eyes.

"No, I didn't. I'm telling the truth. You're really nice today..." Hermione was at a loss for words. She tugged at Fanlin's sleeves twice, but Fanlin was scared back by the outburst of Myrtle just as he was about to speak.

"You're lying." Myrtle's voice was like a lion roaring, making the ears of the four little wizards buzz.

"Do you think I don't know what others say about me? Fat Myrtle! Ugly Myrtle! Wailing Myrtle!"

"Another thing, you missed the word dirty..." Peeves added gloatingly, he liked to do this.

Wailing Myrtle burst into tears, and her sad cries filled the entire hall. Peeves followed her, throwing peanuts at her and shouting, "Dirty ghost, dirty ghost!"

"Oh my God..." Hermione held her head in despair, which made her very unbearable.

"That's enough..." Ron was a little impatient, which made him feel very bad. "Let's go. I don't want to stay here. Who would be interested in a gathering of ghosts?"

"Ron..." Fan Lin gently touched Ron, but Ron's words were heard by a lot of ghosts present.

"How is it?" Sir Nicholas floated over at the right time. As the host of the banquet, he still needs to deal with these small matters.

"Did you have fun, my friend?"

"Well, in fact, it's not bad..." Harry turned his head away with a headache, but at this moment, an unexpected person appeared in front of him.

"Laura?" Harry looked at Laura who had just come in uncertainly, "Why are you here?"

"You mean Miss Laura?" Sir Nicholas said sadly, "This is my special guest. In fact, some soul magic of the Chris family is very practical. It can add some fun to our boring ghost life before."

Sir Nicholas thought of it and said sadly. After a while, he floated to the podium again. As the host of the banquet, Sir Nicholas had to express some feelings about these banquets in front of so many ghosts present.

"What's wrong with you?" Fan Lin looked at Laura with some doubts.

"I'm an important guest..." Laura chuckled, "Every class of Chris family students is very popular with ghosts. As long as there are people from the Chris family, ghosts will definitely try their best to invite them. This ability can be regarded as the last bit of talent of pure-blooded wizards."

"Talent?" Fan Lin said puzzledly, "Can you be more specific?"

"Of course..." Laura looked a little lonely, "This is a kind of inherited and bloodline talent magic. The Chris family's bloodline magic is soul healing, which can make those ghosts enjoy the feeling of being alive for a short time. However, as the bloodline becomes weaker, this effect becomes smaller and smaller. Maybe in the next generation, this talent will completely disappear."

"Sorry..." Fan Lin said apologetically, but Laura's explanation also gave him a new understanding of pure-blooded wizards.

"Nothing?" Laura shook her head, but what was more worrying was that Laura's face became paler than before.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Hermione asked with a frown. "Your face looks pale."

"It's okay. It's probably too cold here."

"Oh, okay!" Hermione nodded, took out her wand, and cast a warming spell on Laura.

"Thank you." Laura nodded. "Sir Nicholas is going to give a speech." After saying that, she motioned everyone to look over. It would be very impolite if the host was distracted while speaking.

At this time, the symphony orchestra had stopped playing.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Sir Nicholas said sadly, "Today, we are in great sorrow..."

Suddenly, the hunting horn sounded.

So, they and every ghost in the house quieted down and looked excited.

"Ah, let's go and take a look." Sir Nicholas said painfully.

Twelve ghost horses rushed into the house, each with a headless knight sitting on it. Everyone clapped their hands crazily, and Harry also clapped his hands, but he stopped when he saw Nick's expression.

The horse galloped to the center of the dance floor, raised its front legs, and stopped standing on its hind feet. A tall ghost stood in front, his bearded head tucked under his arm, blowing the horn, then took a step forward and raised his head high. That way he could see the crowd. (The crowd bursts into laughter.) He goes to Sir Nicholas and puts his head back on his neck.

"Nick," he yelled. "How are you? Is your head still there?"

He laughed heartily and clapped Sir Nicholas on the shoulder.

"Welcome, Birdmore," Sir Nicholas replied stiffly.

"A living person!" Bodmer jumped up in pretend surprise when he saw Harry, Ron, Vernon, Hermione and Laura, and his head dropped again. (There was another burst of laughter from the crowd)

"Very interesting, wonderful," said Sir Nicholas grimly.

"Never mind, Nick." Bodmer and the other Headless Horsemen began throwing hockey sticks, drawing the crowd's attention. Sir Nicholas gave up all hope of speaking in vain as Bodmer's head flew past him cheering.

Harry felt cold all over, and the effect of the Warming Charm had worn off.

"Let's go," Ron said a little badly. It was getting colder and colder in the hall. Of course, there was nothing wrong with Fan Lin. He was quite used to the cold.

But Harry, Hermione, and Ron didn't seem to feel so well.

What surprised Fanlin the most was that Laura didn't feel any discomfort and was still watching the performance on the stage with a smile.

However, Fanlin could feel a strange magic power wrapping Kanla. It seemed that it was because of this Laura that she was not afraid of the noise caused by these ghosts.

However, this should be Laura's family items or the power of blood. After all, the influence of ghosts comes from the soul, as long as it does not pass through the body of a ghost. (To be continued)
