Chapter 611: Aircraft Carriers Are Not Allowed to Pass

The Bosphorus Bridge is very spectacular. From a distance, this bridge, supported by a "gate"-shaped bridge tower and countless steel cables, spans the entire strait. When strong winds blow, the bridge deck will even sway from side to side. The sea is sparkling, reflecting the shadow of the bridge, as well as the ancient castles, mosques, houses and forests on the shore. It is colorful and has a unique charm.

At this moment, what is reflected on the water is not only the shadows of the bridge and the shore, but more importantly, huge outlines. They are Soviet warships!

Warships filled the entire sea, and the largest of them had a displacement of more than 40,000 tons! The length of the hull was nearly 300 meters!

Soviet aircraft carrier! The newest aircraft carrier, the Novorossiysk, has completed all sea trials and is ready to be delivered to the Northern Fleet!

And now, the appearance of this aircraft carrier represents the most powerful Soviet naval force! The other warships following behind are also built by the Black Sea Shipyard and prepared to be exported to the Northern Fleet, as well as warships of the Black Sea Fleet. In short, the Soviet maritime force dominating the Black Sea is almost equally aggressive!

And all of this, of course, is because of the Turkish government! Do they think they have nothing to fear with the support of the Americans and NATO? They actually dared to reject the notice of the Red Empire!

Just three days ago, the Soviet Union sent a diplomatic note to Türkiye that a newly built Soviet heavy aircraft carrier cruiser was ready to cross the Turkish Straits and serve in the Northern Fleet.

This was just a routine matter. The Soviet Union's first few aircraft carriers, whether they were Moscow-class or Kiev-class, were released by Turkey after a notice was issued.

But now, the Turkish side suddenly lost its mind and said that this Soviet warship cannot pass!

The management of the Turkish Straits has undergone many twists and turns. When Tsarist Russia was strong, it once included the Turkish Straits in its management scope. At the same time, Turkey pulled Western countries to abolish Saudi Arabia's management. After that, the most authoritative strait management method was the Montreux Convention signed on July 20, 1937, which stipulates that the Black Sea countries have the right to pass through the straits freely in peacetime; the types, tonnage and stay time of warships sent into the Black Sea by non-Black Sea countries are restricted; warships of belligerent countries are not allowed to pass through the straits; if Turkey participates in the war or is threatened by war, it has the right to allow or prohibit any warship from passing through the straits.

Later, at the end of World War II, after new struggles, the clauses included a provision prohibiting Soviet aircraft carriers and battleships from passing through the strait. In short, in the process of competing for power over the Turkish Straits, the United States was the biggest beneficiary, and even successfully pulled Turkey into the NATO camp.

The Soviet Union did not have much burden for this condition at that time, and the top leaders at that time underestimated the role of aircraft carriers. However, in recent years, the top leaders of the Soviet Union have finally begun to pay attention to it, and one aircraft carrier after another has been launched from the Black Sea Shipyard.

The Black Sea Shipyard has advanced technology and appropriate equipment, making it most suitable for building aircraft carriers, so the Soviet Union had no choice. However, the built warships had to pass through the Turkish Straits!

In the past, although Turkey was also a member of NATO, it faced direct threats from the Soviet Union and had always been relatively honest. The first few Moscow-class and Kiev-class ships could pass through easily.

But when it comes to Novorossiysk, the situation is different!

After notifying the Turkish government about this heavy aircraft carrier cruiser with a full deck and only the bridge structure retained, the Turkish side pointed out to the Soviet representatives very annoyedly that this was not a heavy aircraft carrier cruiser, but an aircraft carrier!

The first two Kiev-class ships already had obvious characteristics of aircraft carriers. They could take off and land fixed-wing fighters by leaping over the deck. Isn't this an aircraft carrier? Because such a warship still looks like a cruiser when viewed from the right, Turkey allowed it to pass.

But now, this aircraft carrier, yes, the upper deck of the aircraft carrier, is all decks, the leapfrog deck at the bow, and the angled deck on the left. What else can this be but an aircraft carrier? Moreover, the displacement exceeds 40,000 tons. Apart from the American aircraft carriers, this aircraft carrier has the largest displacement!

Yes, it is an aircraft carrier! The Turkish side insisted that it is an aircraft carrier, so it cannot pass through the Turkish Straits!

It was not passed at the diplomatic note, but the Soviet Union certainly would not give in. So, several newly built warships, plus the warships of the Black Sea Fleet, a mighty lineup of more than 30 ships, arrived at the Turkish Straits!

For the Soviet Union, fists are the best way to solve problems!

Standing on the bridge, Captain Dovbonya looked at the bridge opposite, which is the narrowest place in the entire strait. At the same time, it is also the place where the Turkish government last held out the illusion of blocking its own aircraft carrier formation from passing through. Right in the middle of the bridge, a tweeter was set up to speak to the fleet.

"Please stop advancing immediately and do not maliciously provoke a war! According to previous agreements, aircraft carriers cannot pass through the Turkish Straits! The entire strait belongs to our Turkish territorial waters. If you pass through the Turkish Straits without the consent of our Turkish government, it is a brutal invasion of Turkey's territorial sovereignty and an act of war! Please exercise necessary restraint. Our coastal defense force's anti-ship missiles are ready. If you continue to move forward, you will be destroyed by us!"

Türkiye is not just talking. At this moment, on the positions on both sides of the strait, the launchers of Harpoon anti-ship missiles on one or two launch vehicles have been deployed, ready to attack the formation at sea at any time!

After all, this is just a strait, not a wide body of water. Shore-to-ship missiles can have a very good effect, but the Soviet aircraft carrier formation cannot intercept all these missiles!

For Turkey, this is the first time they have encountered such a situation. If it were not for the support of the United States and if they did not have so many shore-to-ship missiles, they would not have intercepted the Soviet warships.

This time, we must be tough! The Turkish government has also made up its mind. After all, the will of the American master cannot be violated. Now is the critical stage of the war. The Soviet navy cannot be released, especially the super aircraft carrier!

Even if an aircraft carrier reaches the Mediterranean, the US aircraft carrier fleet will have to devote a lot of energy to deal with it! The Soviet aircraft carrier cannot pass through the Indian Ocean, it can only rush out from the Black Sea!
