Chapter 592 Department of Mysteries
At five o'clock the next morning, when the sky was just beginning to light up, Kyle was awakened by the sound of several owls pecking at the window.
He sat up with a yawn, rubbed his face and tried to wake himself up. It was not until a few minutes later that he gradually realized that he had to be questioned today.
In addition, Diana seemed to have something to do, and he needed to go there a few hours before the Ministry of Magic started working.
Thinking of this, Kyle quickly jumped out of bed, dressed neatly, and went downstairs to the living room to prepare for breakfast.
At this time, Chris just put a plate of fried ham and a few slices of bread on the table.
"I was just about to call you." Chris said, "I want to drink something, how about pumpkin juice."
"Okay." Kyle said.
He walked to the other side of Chris and sat down, and began to spread raspberry jam on the bread.
"Don't worry." Chris brought a large glass of pumpkin juice, "We can Apparate directly to London in a while, which can save a lot of time."
Kyle nodded and said nothing.
He thought about it all night yesterday, but he still couldn't figure out why Diana asked him to go to the Department of Mysteries. He fell asleep in a daze until the early morning, and he was feeling sleepy now.
About half an hour later, when the sky began to brighten, the two walked out of the door.
"Are you ready?" Chris stretched out his arm and said, "Hold on, we're ready to go."
Kyle put his hand on his shoulder.
The next second, the familiar squeeze spread throughout his body, and when Kyle opened his eyes again, he found himself standing in an old record store.
Facing the two people who suddenly appeared, the store owner didn't seem to be very surprised, he just raised his head and glanced at them slightly.
"Chris, why are you here so early today?"
"Hi, Rod." Chris greeted him. "No choice. I have many reports to write."
"Are those guys who want to raise magical animals again?" Rod said, "Since the end of the Triwizard Tournament, everyone seems to be interested in raising magical animals. I dare say you must be very busy recently."
"Yeah, I just rescued a guy who wanted to raise a Kelpie yesterday." Chris sighed, "I really don't know when they will understand that not every magical animal is as docile and cute as Puffy."
"That may be a bit difficult." Rod said, and then he looked at Kyle again, "You are... Sorry, this is the internal entrance for the Ministry of Magic staff, and the visiting room is on the street in front."
"This is my son, Kyle." Chris said quickly, "He will come to the Ministry of Magic for questioning today, at nine o'clock, in the Law Enforcement Department."
"Oh... Is he the Kyle who won the Triwizard Tournament?" Rod, who was originally sleepy, immediately became energetic and looked at Kyle curiously.
"I remember he was the youngest warrior... Really amazing."
Then Rhodes seemed to remember something, and casually clicked the notebook next to him. The notebook automatically turned to the latest page, and he turned his head to take a look.
"Yes, that's right. He received a warning letter seven days ago because he used a spell in the Leaky Cauldron...
"Wait, the Leaky Cauldron?"
Rhodes' voice suddenly rose a little, and he looked at the contents of the notebook in disbelief.
"Merlin's beard, this is the first time I have encountered such a ridiculous reason. If spells cannot be used even in the Leaky Cauldron, why don't they take away the wands?"
"Probably because no one will agree." Chris said.
"Of course no one will agree." Rhodes sneered and closed the notebook, looking at Kyle again, "Well kid, in my opinion you didn't make any mistakes, so you don't need to be nervous.
"Amelia from the Law Enforcement Department is a fair person. I dare say she will definitely not punish you for such a ridiculous reason."
"Thank you." Kyle said with a smile.
It can be seen that the wizard in front of him is also a good person.
"Can we go in now?" Chris asked. "Sorry, I'm in a hurry."
"Of course, go ahead."
Rod tapped a raised spot on the counter with his wand, and the window next to it immediately extended to the left and right, revealing a passage.
"Thank you." Chris said.
He walked in with Kyle.
Behind the passage was a long corridor, with fireplaces needed by the Floo Network on both sides, but it was still early, and all the fireplaces were extinguished.
In the middle of the corridor, a person was standing there waiting for them.
"The time is just right." Diana came over and said to Chris, "Wait until half past eight, and then you can come to the floor of the Department of Mysteries to pick him up."
"Okay." Chris said.
"Come with me now."
Diana took Kyle out of the fireplace corridor and came to the elevator.
There was no one here either, only a cold voice occasionally reported their floor.
"Remember, don't run around or look around, just follow me."
In the elevator, Diana instructed: "And no matter what you see in there, don't tell anyone else after you get out, including the Weasley brothers and the girl named Connor."
"Well, I understand." Kyle nodded.
As soon as the voice fell, Kyle heard a cold voice.
"Department of Mysteries."
"We're here." Diana was the first to walk out of the elevator, and Kyle hurriedly followed.
He had been here once before, but that time he turned to the left staircase after exiting the elevator. But this time, he followed Diana through the empty corridor and came to the simple door at the end.
"Remember, don't look around or walk around." Diana reminded him again, then pushed open the door and walked in.
Behind the door was a large round room, which looked like it had been washed with ink, including the ceiling and floor, which were all black. There were some branch-shaped candles dotted between the walls, but the flames were blue and cold, without any temperature at all.
The doors on the walls were also black, and there were no markings, and they all looked exactly the same.
But Diana just glanced at them and walked straight to the door in front.
Next, Kyle felt as if he had returned to the last event of the Triwizard Tournament, and this place was simply a maze.
The same colors, buildings, and doors were everywhere. If he relaxed a little, he might forget where he came from.
After walking for nearly ten minutes, Kyle finally saw something different.
It was a huge water tank that could fill the entire room, and occasionally he could see something that looked like a brain.
He had seen this thing before. When interrogating Peter Pettigrew, Diana used it to discover the secret that Peter was the secret keeper.
But at that time, the water tank was only as big as a table, much smaller than what we see now.
Further ahead was a room covered by golden airflow. Walking in it, Kyle could always hear a ticking sound, like the sound of the hour hand, or like a water drop hourglass.
I don’t know if it was an illusion, but as Kyle walked, he suddenly felt that he seemed to have grown a little taller. The clothes that originally fit him just right became smaller. He felt a little squeezed at the shoulders, and a part of his ankles were exposed.
But after a few seconds, the clothes became bigger again, and the trouser legs dragged on the ground, almost tripping him.
When Diana pushed open the door at the end and Kyle stepped over the threshold, everything returned to normal in an instant.
At the same time, Diana stopped and did not move forward.
"It's here." She said.
Kyle raised his head and found that they were in a huge cave-like place.
There were stone benches like steps around them, which extended downward at a steep angle, just like the stadium of the Quidditch World Cup, and they were standing at the top.
From here, you can see a high stone platform with a stone arch on it. It looks old and dilapidated.
"Come on."
Diana took Kyle and took a step forward.
With just one step, they crossed the rows of stairs and appeared on the stone platform.
Apparition?
No, it shouldn't be. Apparition wouldn't be so quiet.
But what would it be...
Kyle couldn't help but be a little curious, but seeing Diana's serious face, he still couldn't help asking.
"Come here."
Diana pulled Kyle to the middle of the stone archway.
There were ripples on the stone door, like a vertical water surface, and behind it was a slowly drifting white mist, making it difficult to see what was inside.
