Chapter 256 Extra: About the Glory Queen Class and Some Questions

Chapter 256 Extra: Explanation of the Glory Queen class and some issues

This post was posted early today because I saw many readers talking about the number of Glory Queen class ships. I think I need to write a separate article to explain it and reiterate my consistent position. The conclusion is at the end. Please allow me to explain the issue of the Glory Queen class first.

First of all, it is about the number. You don’t need to tell me. I know that there are more than 20 "known" Glory Queen class ships, but we have to analyze it carefully. What are these extra ships? When did they appear and in what way did they exist?

For example, Horus’s Tyrant, there is only one sentence about the explanation of this Glory Queen class ship. This sentence is written in the background. It is the sister ship of the Spirit of Vengeance. It existed as Horus’ flagship in the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, and then it disappeared. Apart from that, it has not appeared in any mainstream, important plot.

In the first three parts of the Horus Heresy series, Horus Rises, False Gods, and The Burning Galaxy, all three books with the Luna Wolves as the protagonists, all aspects of the Expedition Fleet 16 were mentioned, but, but, there was no mention of the Tyrant, and it didn't even exist.

The same is true for the additional warships of other legions, such as the Dark Angels. These additional warships only existed in a certain background setting, but there was no plot, interaction, or even a detailed description, just a dry sentence.

Another example is the Ambion, which is the Queen of Glory class of the Imperial Navy. This is even more outrageous, because the Imperial Navy was under the command of various legions during the Great Crusade. Its name was the Auxiliary Army, and its direct superiors were the various legions. Therefore, when Horus rebelled, he could pull up so many troops. Why was a Queen of Glory class, which consumes huge materials and is extremely expensive, assigned to the Auxiliary Army? Instead of strengthening it to a certain legion?

And this also brings up another question, why do all the Primarchs, Space Marines, Ultramarines, White Scars and Emperor's Children have only one ship, but Horus and Lion have several more? Is the Emperor so openly partial, or do you have a PY deal with Mars? There is no explanation, and it is also unreasonable. Please remember that there are 20 legions, even if two are missing, there are still 18 legions that are incompatible with each other, and most of them have very bad relations and are hostile to each other.

Even Guilliman and Lion, Horus, who are superficial brothers, treat each other as idiots in private, and they want to kill each other and become warmasters themselves. The Emperor can cause so much trouble just by giving Horus a warmaster title, and he also has to give them a few extra Queen of Glory? Is this reasonable? Does this have any meaning other than angering other Primarchs to death and making them dissatisfied?

Let's talk about the ship of the Imperial Navy again. This ship is even more outrageous. Not only has it never appeared in any important plot, but even the description is that the Imperial Navy has an independent Queen of Glory class, and then the next sentence immediately follows up with the ship's destruction and attack on the rebellious forge world. What is the meaning of its existence? It's as if some author wanted to brag temporarily, made up a ship, and then found that it seemed too outrageous and immediately blew it up.

So yes, I didn't believe the existence of these ships, but adopted the conservative setting of one ship for each Primarch, because this is the most logical, (I must admit that I did forget that the Alpha Legion was a twin Primarch and had an extra ship, probably because Omega was killed and only Alpha was left, my Hydra, woo woo woo woo)

So this is my reason, I don't know if you agree, but I still want to emphasize again that I hope everyone can look at all settings with logic, instead of unconditionally accepting them because there is such a setting somewhere, but should think with logic first.

For example, for the problem of the Queen of Glory, we should first think about why there are so many extra characters, why only these few characters are extra, and others are not, will this cause any problems, is it logical? If it is unreasonable and difficult to explain, can it be rewritten into a reasonable style? For example, I rewrote Loken. If I find that I can't rewrite it, why do I have to write this setting?

I always emphasize that many settings of Warhammer are just for reading. The creation mode of GW and the Black Library means universal book-eating, self-denial and self-contradiction. The final setting and writing style are decided by each author.

——

Finally, I would like to explain some of my other behaviors and ways of thinking. For example, some readers said that I whitewashed Lorgar, saying that Lorgar just worshipped power and had no faith at all.

This is a typical alienation of people, affixing a simple label in impression and then roughly explaining it. This behavior is like the old stereotype that Westerners rely on impressions and say that Chinese people all have pigtails. This behavior is not only unreasonable, but also absurd, and the same is true in the book.

I don't believe that a person is born good or evil. Lorgar is certainly not born evil, and neither are the primarchs of the rebellion. I believe that all people's behavior and personality formation have reasonable explanations, rather than labeling people with preconceived notions.

Take Erebas for example. I don't think Erebas is born cunning, evil and greedy. I prefer to believe that it is Erebas's living environment, parents, relatives and experiences since childhood that shaped his character. For example, his parents often say that a kid next door is so and so, you can't do it. How much impact will the classic other people's children theory have on a person? Especially for people like Erebas who are eager to be recognized.

In order to get the recognition of his parents and the respect of his friends, he will try every means to win and rob. This is not because he is born evil, but because his growth environment has shaped a set of values and worldviews.

Guilliman and Dorn can grow up to be kind and respected people because of their growth environment. Guilliman is lucky. Not only did he fall into Macragge, a world that is almost heaven, but he also has all the love of his adoptive father Connor Guilliman and his adoptive mother Talasha Eudon. He grew up in a happy and complete family, so he understands humans and the world and has normal values.

Although Dorne fell into a world of ice and snow (I have to complain here that GW has no imagination, anyway, the environment is bad and it is snow), the tribe that raised Dorne is a united place. All relatives take care of each other, emphasize responsibility and never abandon or give up, especially the kind old patriarch who raised Dorne. He has a deep influence on Dorne. He will wrap the little primarch in his blanket and tell him stories, fairy tales and everything in the world. This is the key to shaping Dorne, not something innate.

So much so that after Dorne became the primarch, with his physique, he would still spread his patriarch grandfather's robe on the bed to sleep. So I have always believed that the so-called setting cannot only look at a dry setting, but should think more about the things underneath, what exactly caused all this, rather than a preconceived conclusion.

These are some of my ideas and the logic of writing books. I don’t know if you agree, but you are also welcome to continue to put forward critical ideas. I welcome your criticism, because your criticism means thinking about the problem, and I think that is good enough.

I will continue to explain your various problems in the future. This time is temporarily over. Thank you for watching. Today's update will not be affected.

Finally, please vote, recommend, and subscribe. Thank you~
