Chapter 293: The Country in Wonderland
This country?
The three people who were traveling together looked at each other in bewilderment.
They couldn't be blamed for this. The rumors about the fairyland circulated outside all said that this was not a space that humans could enter in person.
Although they had discovered that this was a rumor, the fact that a human country appeared here was beyond their imagination.
"This country?" Clayton couldn't help but ask back.
Not to mention why there was a country here, the name of this country was really weird.
Its literal meaning was too straightforward, which was "the country here", as if it was afraid that others didn't have many words.
The cavalry was very proud of this country, and he raised his chest: "Although this country was the last country to be established, it is the greatest country on this land!"
Are there other countries in the fairyland? Clayton and the others exchanged glances, then sighed and said dejectedly: "We are a caravan guard from a small country, but when we were passing through the forest, we were attacked by big men rushing out of a castle. We were separated from our employer in a panic. Now we have lost our guide and don't know how to go back, nor do we know if our employer is safe."
No one knew whether the identity of coming from outside the fairyland would arouse the hostility of the locals, so he immediately made up a lie.
While crying, he also described the shape of the small castle in the forest and the characteristics of the evil creatures inside. The cavalryman was not surprised. He just looked at these dusty people and their incomplete armor, showing sympathy.
"It's so pitiful that you actually ran into those oath breakers. They will attack everyone they see."
"Oath breakers?" Donna couldn't help asking.
"Yes, they committed a serious crime and betrayed their oath to protect the kingdom forever, so they were exiled by the king. I was there at the time and witnessed everything with my own eyes. It happened more than a hundred years ago." The cavalryman stretched his neck and sighed and shook his head, stopping them from asking questions: "Let's not talk about this. Since you and the guide are separated, then settle down in this country."
"You will find your new identity, but before that, you must first meet our king. This time the king is a benevolent monarch."
The three outsiders were all shocked. No one expected to meet a king when they first entered this place.
"Is there your king's palace here?" The priest frowned and asked.
Although this place looks good, it doesn't look like a place where the king can stay.
Pileg was stunned for a moment, as if he didn't understand what he was saying, so he answered according to his own thoughts.
"This is the country of this place, and our king has always lived here."
"Okay, you can call me fast-legged Pileg, now follow me, there will be soft beds for you to rest soon, and someone will teach you etiquette."
The cavalryman Pileg turned his horse's head and walked slowly towards the castle in the distance.
There is something wrong with this person, Clayton couldn't help thinking behind the horse's tail.
As early as when he found someone here, he had already hidden Clara, so this was not reflected in the other party's reaction to the head, but the problem came from the other party himself-this cavalryman was empty from the waist down, so he had to lie on the horse's back and hold the reins tightly.
But who would let a legless person be a cavalryman?
How can a legless person be called fast-legged?
What is this country of this place?
But even if there was something wrong with the other party, in order to get the information of leaving the fairyland from these natives, they had to respond, but there were more places that needed to be flexible, and he was not sure whether Donna and Louis could keep up with his ideas.
But they had the same determination.
They walked in the forest for two days, enough time to doubt that they had made the wrong choice.
Donna thought they should stay where they were and wait for Julius to open the magic circle again and teleport them back.
But Clayton did not believe in Julius.
Even if Julius really had the determination to save them, he could not open the door to the fairyland again by himself, and the rescue of the Elders was even more illusory.
Compared with this, it was more reliable for them to find a way themselves.
Clayton glanced at Donna who was carrying a spear and sighed secretly. He was a person who valued promises very much, so he was still worried about something in this crisis-the date he had made an appointment with Charlotte to visit Xin Jiani Women's College had been far exceeded, and they were now trapped here, and they didn't know how long they would be delayed.
Fortunately, the flow of time in the fairyland seems to be different from that in the real world. Those who claim to have entered the fairyland have similar testimonies. They feel that they may have spent several days in the fairyland, but in the real world, only one or two hours have passed from sleeping to waking up.
Thinking of this, Clayton's eyes swept across the world of spring scenery, and the fresh smell that his nose could smell was also very real.
But it was a little too fresh.
There was no smell of excrement, but it made him realize the difference between here and the real world.
"Cray." Donna suddenly called softly.
Clayton hadn't heard someone call him like this for a long time. He instinctively wanted to tell the other party to call him by his full name, but soon realized why Donna did this.
She found out that Pileg was a wizard, so she wanted to prevent him from getting their real names.
Although he didn't know how Donna found this out, he immediately changed his address:
"What's the matter, Cletia?"
The girl breathed a sigh of relief: "What are you and Reyes going to do next?"
Luis, carrying a spear, glanced at them sideways and didn't correct them. Clayton hoped that this was a manifestation of his understanding of the hint.
"It depends on what kind of people they need here first." He whispered to Donna.
Pilige suddenly turned his head on the horse: "Why don't you be a farmer? I think you have a good physique and you will definitely be a good farmer. Mr. Reyes is a little thin and may only be a cavalryman like me."
He pointed to the fields on the side of the road, and a farmer wearing a straw hat stopped working, stood up and waved to them with a smile.
Clayton was about to ignore the farmer, but soon noticed the two sturdy calves under the white cloth pants - although they were not as good as him, it was because of the height difference between the two. Among people of the same height, they were no longer amateurs, but at least professional fighters, which was a level that ordinary people could distinguish.
The three looked at this sturdy farmer and had to admit that Clayton might be suitable to be a farmer.
Pileg continued to drive forward, and they followed Pileg, moving towards the town along the clean and flat post road.
After a while, they saw a new strange thing.
"What is that?"
Donna pointed to a highland dwarf tied to a tall wooden pole in the field and struggling constantly and asked.
They had seen this pole before, and originally thought that it was a scarecrow hanging on it, but when they got closer, they found that it was a completely living person.
"That's a scarecrow. Don't you have scarecrows in your hometown?" Pileg asked strangely, as if scarecrows played by people were really common sense.
But the scarecrow was originally used to replace the living, so this was a completely unnecessary move.
Clayton and Louis didn't know how to comment on this behavior.
When the dwarf saw that they were looking at him, his face turned red and he struggled even more angrily, but the thick wooden pole behind him didn't move at all.
Donna felt sorry for him: "But he doesn't seem happy."
"Oh, he has a bad temper and is not friendly to others, but he is very effective against birds that steal food." Pileg explained simply: "You see, everyone can find a suitable identity in this country, and you will definitely find one too."
Clayton patted Donna's shoulder and motioned her to let him speak first: "Okay, Mr. Pileg, this may be a bit presumptuous, but I want to ask you why you have no legs but are called fast legs?"
"Ah, this is a little trick for being a cavalryman."
Pileg raised his head proudly: "I originally had a pair of legs that ran very fast, but I put them away in order to be a knight. Everyone knows that the lighter the load of a horse, the faster it runs. Now although I have lost my legs, there is no one faster than me in this country."
This statement is correct, but Clayton just thinks he is too extreme.
Pili's enthusiasm and pride are by no means fake, but they just hope that the locals' personalities are not as weird as his.
Soon, they stood in front of the huge castle, waiting for Pileg to find someone else to lead them - he refused to get off the horse, so they had to change a new guide.
They took advantage of this moment to look at the pedestrians in the town, trying to guess the operation of this country from their actions.
There are some workers and vendors moving and working here. The clothes they wear are no different from those of the people in Gevoy. They are work clothes that will not be replaced in another one or two hundred years. But no one looks like they are really doing this business. There are many mistakes in their working methods, but their expressions are focused and there is no fatigue. It seems that a group of actors are simulating the life of rural people on the stage.
And there is a special phenomenon
Looking at the pedestrians coming and going on the street, Donna and Clayton's faces are getting uglier and uglier.
"There are many powerful wizards." Donna whispered, leaning on the spear.
The strong mental power of wizards will unconsciously radiate through the eyes or the third eye in the middle of the forehead. Unless they are intentionally restrained, they can sense each other.
Apart from Pileg, she had seen seven wizards with stronger mental power than herself on the street, and five of them were painting the walls of houses on the roadside, and two were selling fruits. She quietly described them to her companions.
Clayton let out a long breath, and the feeling of rejection in his heart became more and more serious.
"There is no ordinary person here."
Except for those wizards, the bodies of others all had traces of training. The worst one was at the level of ordinary infantry in the Kingdom of Dorne, and the best one was stronger than the werewolf in human form at the moment. The calluses on his hands, the pace of walking, and the eyes all showed the style of a cold weapon expert. Clayton even suspected that if he had a sword in his hand, he could repel himself as a werewolf.
Although the land area of this country is not large, the quality of its personnel is enough to form a full-staff knight group.
"There are no children here." Louis also said.
As he said, the town was a little too quiet. There were only adult voices here, and there was not a single child who should have been playing in the streets and alleys of the town.
Clayton felt that this country was becoming more and more strange. Just as he was about to say something, a petite female guard suddenly walked out of the castle.
"His Majesty has agreed to meet with you. If you want to stay here, be prepared to swear allegiance."
She led them into the castle, walked along the red carpet of the corridor, and stopped outside a solemn hall. They could already see the throne and the king wearing a golden crown on it, as well as the attendants standing on both sides with swords.
"Go in." The female guard said, "By the way. Don't annoy Mr. Edwards."
