Pawn Crossing the River

Chapter 185: Ordination

The Wanxiang Dao Palace is a big and deep-rooted place, with the Grand Master of the Palace in person. A formal investigation team naturally could not stir up any big waves and left soon.

There were no obvious actions by all parties, but various private actions were also paving the way for the next confrontation.

In the blink of an eye, it was mid-September, and the three-month Shanggong training came to an end.

There is also a Mid-Autumn Festival between the July 15th Zhongyuan Festival and the September 15th. This is not a traditional festival of Taoism, but a secular traditional festival. It is listed as one of the three major festivals along with the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival. It’s just that the Wanxiang Dao Palace is quite taboo about this festival. After all, there are many homeless children in the Wanxiang Dao Palace. This reunion festival is inevitably touching, so the Wanxiang Dao Palace will not take the initiative to hold celebrations like the Zhongyuan Festival, but it allows private celebrations.

Qi Xuansu doesn’t like to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, so he spent the day of August 15th in the library of Genyuan.

After experiencing a complete transformation, Qi Xuansu found it much easier to practice the "Devil Sword". Now, he can pass the test nine times out of ten. Finally, in mid-September, he practiced the "Devil Sword" to the level of mastery.

This is reasonable. After Qi Xuansu experienced the "small transformation" of the realm of transformation, his qualifications have barely caught up with the exiled immortals. The "Devil Sword" is a quick-learning unorthodox method. In addition, Qi Xuansu has become a celestial being, and his realm has reached a higher level. It took three months to practice to a small success, which is not too shocking.

After entering mid-September, there are no regular classes. The trainees began to pack their luggage, complete various handover procedures, and prepare to leave the Wanxiang Taoist Palace. The Taoist Palace began to prepare for the final seal ceremony.

The internal system of Taoism is divided into two systems, one system is the position, and the other system is the Taoist rank.

For example, Qi Xuansu's position is the chief Taoist priest of the eighth department of Ziwei Hall, and his rank is the fourth-rank Taoist priest.

There is a certain connection between the two. Some positions are assumed to be held at a certain grade, and even the position and grade are closely tied together. For example, the position of deputy headmaster must be closely tied to the grade of first-grade Tianzhen Taoist priest. There has never been a precedent of a second-grade Taiyi Taoist priest serving as deputy headmaster.

However, lower positions do not have fixed grades. For example, the first-level deputy hall master can be held by second-grade Taiyi Taoist priests and fourth-grade Jijiu Taoist priests. The lower limit of the first-level hall master, the first-level mansion master, and the first-level palace master is the second-grade Taiyi Taoist priest, but the first-grade Tianzhen Taoist priest can also serve.

The token and waist badge correspond to the position. In addition to proving the identity, they also have various permissions and serve as keys. For example, the token in Sun Hewu's hand belongs to the Grand Master of the Palace. As long as he holds this token, he can unlock all the restrictions of the Wanxiang Taoist Palace.

The ordination is corresponding to the Taoist grade. Only when you reach the level of the fourth-grade Jijiu Taoist priest can you be ordained, and it is unique to each person. The fourth-rank priest is initially granted the "Chu Zhen Jing Lu", the third-rank Youyi Taoist is promoted to the "Zhong Ji Jing Lu", the second-rank Taiyi Taoist is granted the "Shang Dong Jing Lu", the Canzhi Zhenren is granted the "Tai Xuan Jing Lu", the first-rank Tianzhen Taoist is granted the "Taishang Du Gong Jing Lu", and the deputy headmaster Da Zhenren is granted the "Taishang Daode Jing Lu".

In theory, the Canzhi Zhenren and the deputy headmaster Da Zhenren should not be counted in the category of grades, but should be regarded as positions. However, due to their particularity, they have indeed become real levels. The Canzhi Zhenren is higher than the ordinary second-rank Taiyi Taoist, and the deputy headmaster Da Zhenren is also higher than the ordinary first-rank Tianzhen Taoist, so there are special scriptures corresponding to the two.

The headmaster is not included in this list. He has neither tokens, nor talismans or scriptures. He only has a "Sanbao Ruyi", which is similar to the Western scepter. It is not only a symbol of the authority of the headmaster, which can open and close the Kunlun Cave Heaven, but also the identity certificate of the headmaster, which is quite similar to the emperor's jade seal.

Of course, as the saying goes, there are six seals of the emperor, and the emperor has more than one jade seal, namely the emperor's seal, the emperor's seal, the emperor's seal, the emperor's seal, the emperor's seal, and the emperor's seal. Their functions are different. The emperor's seal is used to confer titles on princes, dukes, and officials, the emperor's seal is used to grant letters to princes, dukes, and officials, the emperor's seal is used to raise troops and fight, the emperor's seal is used to summon ministers, the emperor's seal is used to pay homage to foreign affairs, and the emperor's seal is used to serve the gods and ghosts of heaven and earth.

The Grand Master also has more than "Sanbao Ruyi" as a token of trust, and also has special seals, but there are not as many as six seals, only three seals, corresponding to the creation, the world, and the gods and ghosts.

Now these things that belong exclusively to the Grand Master are sealed in the Zixiao Palace, waiting for the new owner.

Even if we put aside the various symbolic meanings, the "Three Treasures Ruyi" itself is still a genuine immortal object. Before the integration of Taoism, Xuansheng and his wife liked to use it as a hammer. A great priest of the Confucian school was hit by this Ruyi and his brain burst. Many immortals also suffered a great loss.

Later sutras were all made in imitation of the "Three Treasures Ruyi". In addition to identity proof and corresponding to certain permissions, they can also be used as a weapon.

For example, the "Taishang Daodejinglu" of the three deputy masters, the permissions correspond to the Demon Well Cave Heaven, the Demon Locking Tower Cave Heaven, and the Dragon Palace Cave Heaven. The three deputy masters can also divide some secondary permissions from the sutras and hand them over to others to assist them in managing the cave heaven. In addition, the "Taishang Daodejing Lu" can also be used as a semi-immortal object equivalent to the "Gongzhu Staff", similar to a magic weapon. The three sutras are different, corresponding to heaven, earth, and man respectively. How mysterious they are is unknown because the three deputy masters rarely take action.

Similarly, the "Taishangdugong Sutra" of the first-grade Tianzhen Taoist priest, in addition to various permissions, can also be used as a semi-immortal item equivalent to "Wuxiang Paper".

By analogy, the "Taixuan Sutra" of the Canzhi Zhenren corresponds to the best treasure, the "Shangdong Sutra" of the second-grade Taiyi Taoist priest corresponds to the best treasure, the "Zhongji Sutra" of the third-grade Youyi Taoist priest corresponds to the middle-grade treasure, and the "Chuzhen Sutra" of the fourth-grade Jijiu Taoist priest corresponds to the lowest treasure.

After all, the sutras are made by the Taoist sect itself, which is related to face, so there are no inferior treasures.

In other words, the ceremony of granting the sutra is to give a treasure for free.

Of course, it is a great thing.

However, the sutras cannot be bought and sold privately. Once discovered, the punishment is very severe. At the least, the sutras will be confiscated, and at the worst, the Taoist rank will be reduced.

If the sutra is demoted due to a serious fault, the original sutra must be handed in and replaced with a sutra of the corresponding grade.

In fact, the distribution and management of the sutras are also within the scope of the Ziwei Hall's responsibilities. Otherwise, why is the Ziwei Hall the head of the nine halls?

The ceremony of granting the sutras was arranged in the auditorium of Qianyuan, and was presided over by the Grand Master of the Palace. However, the Grand Master of the Palace usually does not attend in person, but gives it to Sun Hewu or Ning Lingyun. Strictly speaking, after the Grand Master of the Palace gives it to Sun Hewu, it depends on Sun Hewu's mood. If he is willing, he will personally grant the sutras. If he is not willing, he will pass it down and give it to Ning Lingyun, a junior.

Ning Lingyun has no room to push it down, so the size of Ning Lingyun's power depends on the mood of the two old guys above. When the two of them are not in charge, the power in his hands is comparable to that of the Grand Master of the Palace. When the two of them are in charge, he returns to the normal position of the second seat.

This year is special, so Sun Hewu decided to grant the sutras in person.

On the day of granting the sutras, everyone attended in formal attire. After a brief summary and encouragement speech, they came forward one by one and lined up.

Sun Hewu started from the right, followed by two special golden and purple teachers, one holding the Sumeru object sent from Ziwei Hall, and the other handing Sun Hewu the "First True Scripture Scroll".

The first person in line was Yao Pei. Sun Hewu handed the "First True Scripture Scroll" in his hand to Yao Pei, and said with emotion: "The last time I gave the scroll, the girl from the Zhang family stood in this position. This time I gave the scroll again, and it's your turn, the girl from the Yao family, to stand in this position. When I give the scroll next time, it will probably be the boy from the Li family who will stand in this position."

Yao Pei took the "First True Scripture Scroll" with both hands, and said expressionlessly: "Thank you, Master Sun, for giving me the scroll."

Next to Yao Pei was Qi Xuansu. Sun Hewu came to Qi Xuansu, and did not rush to take the "First True Scripture Scroll" from the special golden and purple teacher's hand, but looked Qi Xuansu up and down: "Amazing, amazing, a celestial being under 30 years old, with a promising future."

Qi Xuansu lowered his head slightly, not knowing what to say.

Sun Hewu reached out and patted Qi Xuansu on the shoulder again: "Zhang girl is from the Great True Man's Mansion, Yao girl is from Wanshou Chongyang Palace, and Li boy is from Zhenjing Branch Courtyard. Although they came to our Shang Palace for further study, they are not from Wanxiang Dao Palace after all. Only you are from our Wanxiang Dao Palace. If you can make a name for yourself, it will also be a glory for our Wanxiang Dao Palace. So, work hard, follow the right path, and don't take the crooked path."

Qi Xuansu stood up straight, and many words could only be transformed into one word in the end: "Yes."

Sun Hewu then took the "First True Scripture Scroll" from the hands of the special golden and purple instructor and handed it to Qi Xuansu.

Qi Xuansu received it with both hands and said solemnly: "Thank you, Master Sun, for the Scroll."

Sun Hewu smiled slightly and walked to the next person.

Qi Xuansu carefully looked at the "Chu Zhen Jing Lu" in his hand. It was essentially a special talisman, but it had an extra jade horizontal axis that could be folded up to form a scroll, and it was tied with a silk thread for easy hanging around the waist.

Qi Xuansu now had a lot of small items hanging around his waist, including a decorative jade pendant, a replica of the "Nine Yang Lihuo Cover", the waist badge of the Taoist priest in charge of Ziwei Hall, and now he had to add the "Chu Zhen Jing Lu".

The functions of the talisman can be continuously superimposed. In other words, the "Zhongji Jing Lu" adds new functions on the basis of covering the "Chu Zhen Jing Lu". By analogy, the "Taishang Daode Jing Lu" of the deputy head master not only has unique functions, but also includes all the functions of the previous talismans.

The greatest function of the "Chu Zhen Jing Lu" is not to fight with others, but to act as a mother-and-child talisman that can be reused continuously without time limit. However, the disadvantage is that it can only bind one person, and the other party must also have a Taoist talisman.

Qi Xuansu must be bound to Zhang Yuelu, but he changed his mind and thought that with Qiniang's means, she might have scriptures in her hands. If he bypassed her, his mother would be jealous, and the conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law would also be a problem.
