Mysteries of the Earthsea

Chapter 11 The Bandage Attack

After eating, Charles began to patrol the Mouse, making sure everyone was safe.

I don't know what caused the sailors to disappear. When the enemy is in the dark, we can only use this stupid method temporarily.

The atmosphere on the boat was back to before they came here again. Everyone was trembling, trying to expose themselves to the eyes of others, for fear that they would disappear silently.

I don't know if Charles' method worked, or the thing left, and the mouse was very peaceful for the next few days.

Four days later, Charles stood at the bow, looking out at the dark sea in the distance.

"There are still three days at most, and the Mouse will be able to return to the navigation mark route, and it should be safe by then."

Estimating the time when he would return to the island, Charles turned to look at Anna who was sitting on the windlass. "Let's go, let's go to the whirlpool room."

"No, I'm like an idiot going around with you every day. I just want to find out what there is to do in the place. I have to go by myself." Anna looked impatient.

"Don't let your guard down, it's dangerous for you to be alone." Charles used to gently pull her arm, but she threw it away.

"Oh, I can't go on talking, why are you so annoying man, and isn't the mummy just watching from above, there is no danger."

Charles looked up and moved up, and through the transparent glass, he could clearly see the bandages at the helm.

"Okay, sit down and rest for a while. I'll be right back." Charles opened the hatch and went to the turbine cabin on the lowest floor.

As the power core of the entire steamship, the turbine compartment was very hot and stuffy. As soon as Charles entered, he saw James, the shirtless second engineer adding fuel, and the boatswain Dipper who was sticking out his tongue like a dog next to him.

"Captain, I really can't stand it, let me go up, this place is too hot." Dipper complained to Charles with a sad face.

"For the safety of your companions, be patient a little bit."

"Even if there are any monsters that eat people, they won't come down. This place is so hot, who can bear it except the big man?"

Charles walked over to James and patted his sturdy shoulder with his hand. "Thanks for your hard work, the insulation effect of the new ship will be much better."

James smiled honestly, "I'm used to it. Except for the hot spots, the work below is very easy."

"When you buy a new ship, you won't be able to do it alone. Then you will be the chief engineer, and you will be in charge of the first, second, and third engineers."

Unexpectedly, James seemed to be frightened by Charles' words, and hurriedly stepped back half a step, swinging his hands like a fan.

"No, no, no, I don't care about people, let others do it, I'll just add the fire, really, really."

Charles, who was smiling, was about to speak to comfort his crew, when suddenly there was a loud noise from the pipe next to him, and as the Mouse made a mournful cry, everything around him instantly tilted to 75°

Charles, who staggered to the ground, immediately realized that the hull tilted suddenly. There must be something wrong with the helmsman. He climbed to the side of the communication tube with all fours and shouted loudly into it: "Bandages!! You hear me, hurry up!!"

What came from inside was the sound of tearing flesh and blood and the painful grunting of bandages.

"Damn it!" Charles pulled out the revolver at his waist, and quickly climbed towards the stairs despite the shaking.

"Follow me, you two! Something happened to the cockpit!!"

When Charles rushed to the deck in a hurry, he saw the panicked Anna with tears in her eyes. "That mummy... that mummy!!"

The four of Charles rushed to the cockpit to have a look, dark red blood splashed everywhere, making the cockpit a mess.

The bandage that should have been at the helm was lying on the ground miserably like a rag doll that was bitten by a dog. Except for the large and small wounds on his body, his right leg was completely severed and disappeared.

Charles rushed to the bruised bandage, not knowing where to put his hands for a moment. After a pause for two seconds, Charles tore off the bandage on the bandage's face with his hands, and put his fingers in front of his nose.

After feeling the vague breath, Charles breathed a sigh of relief. He quickly pulled out the black knife stuck in his boot, and held the bandage in his hand, hoping that he could catch life with the healing power of the black knife.

"Anna! Don't be stunned, come and stop the bleeding!"

Charles' shout woke up the bewildered ship doctor. With red eyes, she nodded repeatedly and quickly ran out the door. "I... I'm going to get the hemostat!"

"Don't give up, buddy, you'll be fine, don't give up." An eager Charles whispered in Bandage's ear.

After a while, Anna ran back and shouted hesitantly, "Charles, my medical kit is gone!"

Charles looked at Anna in a daze for a second, then quickly said: "Go to the captain's cabin, I have prepared some medicines at the bottom of the cabinet! Dipper, go and call everyone over! Hurry up!"

After a scramble, there were six people standing in front of the unconscious bandages in the messy cockpit.

Everyone looked at Charles nervously, trying to find a sense of security. This feeling made Charles feel more stressed, but at this time, it was the time when the captain was needed, so he couldn't be messed up.

"Anna, did you see what hit the bandage??"

"I didn't see it. The boat suddenly tilted and I fell to the ground."

"That thing is still on board, and it will definitely shoot again."

"But Captain, we've searched all over, and there's nothing there. Could it be that that thing can be invisible?" Dipper asked with a frowning face.

The monsters in Earthsea are all kinds of strange things, and being invisible is not a big deal.

"It's unlikely. If it will be invisible, there is no need to wait so long."

Charles knew that he had to do something, and his crew could not be attacked again. If this continued, the entire Mouse would become an iron coffin and completely bury everyone.

But what could he do in such ignorance?

After thinking for a while, Charles pursed his lips and said, "Big wheel tube, the turbo is turned to the maximum, as long as you can return to the Coral Islands at the fastest speed, it's okay for the Mouse to be scrapped."

"Dipper, take a bottle of water and lock all the hatches."

"Frey, move all the food in the kitchen that can be eaten raw to the turbine room and the cockpit, and the others only stay in these two places."

Since I couldn't find it, I didn't look for it at all, and just nestled together until I returned to Hong Kong.

"Then what about going to the bathroom?" Anna asked in a low voice.

Charles tapped the transparent glass in front with his finger, "The deck is facing outward."

As the crowd began to gather at the two places, the atmosphere in the entire Mouse became more and more depressing.

In the cockpit, Dipper was at the helm, Anna tended to the bandages in the hammock, and Charles sat on the stool with a diary and continued to write.

In the cabin, there was no sound except the rustling of the pen tip across the paper.
