Chapter 9 The Tree Is Alive
Charles pulled the bandage, pulled out the black knife stuck in his leg and used it as a machete, and kept chopping the bandaged branch in front of him.
The spiky branches were cut off easily, but there was nothing at the break.
The two broke into the depths of the forest, and soon Charles saw other people in the bandaged mouth, and the scene in front of him shocked him.
What was in front of him was a weird short tree, the trunk with long thorns wrapped around the boy's body, the comatose human was hung in mid-air like a piece of bacon, swaying left and right like the fruit of this strange tree.
There is more than one "fruit", and there are many fruits on the strange tree.
"Save them down." Charles grabbed the black knife and rushed forward.
A boy fell to the ground and let out a painful snort, before slowly waking up. He looked at Charles who was crazily chopping down the tree trunk, his head was a little dazed. "Who are you? Have you seen my captain?"
Charles didn't have time to worry about it, he cut down the branch frantically with a knife and saved everyone, but this time there was still something inside the hollow branch, a cluster of short, trembling pink tentacles fell out from the cross section.
"Ka Ka Ka..." The trunk of the dwarf tree suddenly moved, and everyone present looked away at the dwarf tree.
The rust-red tree trunk slowly cracked, and a few real eyes shot out from the cracks in the tree, and looked at Charles.
A thought flashed through Charles' mind, "Is this thing alive?"
The movement of the dwarf tree became bigger and bigger, so big that Charles could already see the twisted flesh and the tawny eyeballs in the gaps between the trees, as well as the monstrous anger in the eyeballs.
"Run!!" The living people on the scene moved instantly. Even if they couldn't figure out the situation, human instinct tended to run for their lives quickly.
They didn't take a few steps before, when there was a loud "touch", the dwarf tree exploded directly, and twisted flesh and blood creatures crawled out,
At first glance, they look like starfish with black hairs, but upon closer inspection, you will find that those hairs are thick dark-colored slender tentacles, and the orange-yellow one-eyed and large mouth full of fangs grows in the very center of the body.
The monster opened its mouth and twitched its tentacles, frantically chasing after the fleeing food.
Fortunately, Charles opened a way before, and the distance between the two sides is still widening.
"Ka Ka Ka ~" All the trunks around trembled and cracked. Charles and the others seemed to have touched some mechanism. The deformed creatures stretched out their disgusting strips of flesh as if awakened from sleep.
They wobbled and let out a head-scratching high-pitched growl, turning the entire island into a living hell.
All kinds of eyes full of evil thoughts shot over, making everyone feel cold and their limbs stiff.
"Hurry up! Hurry up!!" Charles helped the boy to escape quickly.
Not only did he run for a long time, but the situation became more and more critical. Now not only the flesh and blood surged behind him, but even the strange tree in front began to shake
At this moment, the wriggling tentacles in front formed a big net, and they were surrounded!
In the nick of time, Charles suddenly remembered something, and directly reached out to his waist with his hand, and touched a lump of hard texture, which was the explosives he brought over!
"Boom!!" Flesh spattered, and the blocked intersection reappeared.
Explosives can help everyone drive the road, but as the amount of explosives on their bodies decreases, everyone's faces become more and more ugly.
Just when Charles had the last pack of explosives in his hand, the sound of waves hitting the beach came from a distance, and the exit was ahead! !
Everyone knew what this meant, and the speed under their feet increased a little again, desperately squeezing the potential of his body.
The last pack of dynamite was ignited and thrown out, and the hard ground was finally replaced by soft sand. They come out.
The seven frantically rushed towards the wooden boat by the sea, followed by the fleshy monster behind them.
Out of the corner of his eye, Charles saw a flash of golden light beside him, which was the statue of Fortan that he had thrown on the ground before.
Charles quickly ran a few steps, picked up the statue and jumped directly onto the canoe. The others swung their oars desperately, and finally returned to the sea before those fleshy monsters caught up.
The monster seemed to be afraid of the sea water, and after touching it a little, they shrank back one after another.
When the group returned to the Mouse, the breath in their hearts relaxed. Everyone collapsed on the ground, panting like an old dog.
Although all the muscles in his body were protesting, Charles still endured the soreness and stood up. The danger had not yet escaped, and he had to leave the island.
"Turn-pipe fires, sailors anchor, mate steers! Let's get out of this place."
"Yes, Captain."
Seeing the crew quickly execute his orders, Charles suddenly felt a little surprised, and felt that something was wrong.
He quickly sifted through his memories, and was surprised to find that the crew members were all back, and he could call out their names.
It seems that neither the island nor the monsters modify the memory, but as long as they leave the island, the memory can be restored.
Holding the side of the boat with both hands, Charles looked towards the island in the distance. In the darkness, the fleshy monsters were blurry.
They stretched out their tentacles and swayed rhythmically from side to side, as if they were holding some kind of ceremony, and they looked extremely frightening under the support of the darkness.
Under Charles' watchful eye, the mouse's chimney emitted black smoke again, and the group slowly moved away from this weird island.
It was not until the meal, under Charles' explanation, that all the crew members knew what happened, and they were very shocked by this situation.
"My God, are unexplored islands so dangerous? No wonder the disappearance rate of exploration ships is so high."
"My memory disappeared and came back again? Captain, you will not lie to me, will you?"
After taking a sip of the soup, Charles coughed lightly, and the discussion quieted down.
Charles glanced at each of their faces and said: "Everyone started to report their names and positions, and checked each other's memories to see if there was any contradiction."
The weird island made him dare not be careless, quietly making the crew disappear, and even erasing his own memory, this kind of power made him feel very taboo.
"Bandage, position... chief mate, assisting the captain and organizing various work plans..., responsible for preparing cargo stowage plans, 12~24...helmsman."
"James, the second engineer, is responsible for maintaining the normal working order of the turbo furnace; at the same time maintaining the propulsion device and additional equipment, boilers, lubrication, cooling and fuel."
"Frey, the duty cook, is in charge of the crew's meals."
"Di Pu, the post bosun, is responsible for instructing the sailors to do a good job in the maintenance and repair of anchors, cables, and loading and unloading equipment; leading the sailors to do a good job in painting, sail cables, and high altitude."
"Water, one job: perform steering, navigational watch duties, and routine deck department maintenance."
"Jack, Duty Two Waters: Carrying out various workmanship of cable tying, retracting gangway and deck department."
"Anna, the on-duty ship doctor, is responsible for the crew's disease treatment and daily physical examination."
After comparing the memories in his mind and finding that there were indeed eight pairs of footprints, Charles was completely relieved. He really worried too much, and the matter was finally over.
